Please be careful if purchasing a Billiad Table from Affordable Billiards

Well it's been nearly two months and I still don't have a pool table. The sorriest thing I have ever done is try to do business with Affordable Billiards. In November I came across the web site Affordable Billiards it sounded good. A reasonable price and according to the web site "less for cash" also "we ship Australia wide". I sent an email to the contact us link and didn't hear from anyone for 3 days (to this day no one has responded), so I called the number listed and spoke to the "manager". Actually there is no money off for cash unless you happen to live near a branch and can hand over actual cash, not like other stores that accept eftpos for the total amount "cash". I ordered a billiard table and a few days later they called to say they didn't have the model I wanted so I selected another and they didn't have that either although both of these we advertised on the web site, so I finally struck it lucky on my third selection.

On the following Monday the table was dispatched and I was told we would need 3 to 4 men on hand to help unload. The table arrived on the Friday and my husband thought he would do the best thing and as he knows the courier company took his ute over there. The table had been loaded on a single small pallet and both ends were bending down. The company used their forklift (we thought that was as good as 3 to 4 men) to load the box on the ute. We came home and opened the box to find that one long side was completely broken through and a crack halfway through the bottom of the table.

I contacted the "manager" who immediatly blamed us for not having 3 to 4 men unload. He would not listen to me as to how the table had been transported. Nowhere on the box had instructions as to how to transport ie This way up, or Fragile. I sent him photo's of the damage and put in a complaint to the Dept of Fair Trading as he wasn't very nice to deal with and by this time I was totally sick of the whole thing.

Finally he sent an email saying he would replace the table and as soon as we sent back the broken one he would despatch a new one.

Well that was on the 18th December and I still have no table it hasn't even been dispatched. I've sent the other one back so I have no table, no money and they seem to have gone on Holidays.
Christmas day was spent in a great big empty room.
Watch out. If you want no service and a lot of headaches go to Affordable Billiards

  1. I've had a similarly bad experience with Affordable Billiards. I purchased a table on 31-08-13 using my credit card over the phone. After a very frustrating two weeks I cancelled the order and requested a refund. They would not give me a refund. To date they have $2171.97 of my money and I have no pool table. I filed a claim in QCat (Qld's small claims tribunal), no one from Affordable Billiards showed up at the mediation hearing or responded in any way, the matter has now been scheduled for court. In the mean time Mark Borg has accused me of theft of the table and a large accessories kit (despite being told by me that the table was not delivered and being told by a representative of the Office of Fair Trading and the delivery company), I have had to track down the delivery company and the depot myself (no easy feat) in order to obtain proof that the table was not delivered to me. I can't believe I've had to endure such a lengthy and confusing process just to obtain a refund that I am entitled to. I have never before dealt with such an underhanded, appallingly unprofessional shoddy company in my life! Take them to court, it is the only way, Good Luck!
